English US to Hindi Gaming Project

English US to Hindi Gaming Project

In recent years, computer games have nearly supplanted traditional games. All demographic groups enjoy playing video games. Mobile phones and quick internet services have made it simpler to access a variety of games. Moreover, multilingual games have been very popular recently. We were given the chance to translate the Action-Adventure video game's content into Hindi. Gamers that want to play something fascinating often choose action-adventure games.

Huge amounts of information are now routinely produced as content gains importance in a company's marketing and customer service initiatives. Businesses must concurrently make this material available in all of their languages to serve their multilingual clients.

English to Hindi Translation:

An Indo-Aryan language, Hindi or Modern Hindi is primarily spoken in the Hindi Belt region of northern, central, eastern, and western India. Following Mandarin and Spanish in terms of first language usage, Hindi is the third most common language worldwide. The Indian Constitution standardized Hindi on September 14, 1949. Before the standardization, Avadhi and Braj Bhasha, among other Hindi dialects and languages, rose to prominence through literary standardization. The 12th and 13th centuries CE saw the development of the first Hindi literature. The Delhi dialect, the local vernacular of Delhi and the surrounding area, served as the foundation for Modern Standard Hindi and eventually replaced older well-known dialects like Awadhi and Braj.

Upon independence, the Indian government established the following customs:

  • Grammar standardization: In 1954, the Indian government established a commission to create Hindi grammar, and in 1958, A grammar of Modern Hindi, which contained standard Hindi grammar, was published.
  • The Devanagari script was employed to standardize the spelling system by the Central Hindi Directorate of the Ministry of Education and Culture. As writing became more standardized, several Devanagari characters' shapes were improved, and diacritics were introduced to represent sounds from different languages.

Transitioning action and adventure gaming content is regarded as a difficult task, since the translator must be careful to use words that are appropriate for local users and write clearly so that all user categories can comprehend and be satisfied with the game's information. We encountered the following difficulties when we carried out this project:

  1. The client requested that we regularly translate the contents, which were sent to us as a result of the customer's content production.
  2. We cannot use common terminology while talking about game stuff. It is crucial to translate or transcreate creative content.
  3. The first area on which we should concentrate is consistency and appropriate terminology use. To preserve consistency, only one translator and one reviewer were permitted to be used.
  4. The construction of a glossary and style guide was crucial for us. These additional translations can be used as a foundation.
  5. We have chosen a skilled translator and a qualified reviewer with experience in this field and this genre of content, who can give us the high-calibre job we need.
  6. This caused difficulties in terms of selecting the proper linguists with the appropriate profiles, as well as ensuring that the level of quality should be maintained.
  7. Several instructions had to be followed, and the same applied to internal quality assurance as well as linguists.

Before the project began, we set about drafting a plan. What we did was as follows:

  1. Before beginning the project, we held a kick-off meeting to go over all the instructions with the internal team and linguists. Back-up linguists were also prepared.
  2. We chose resources that have a track record of successfully converting this kind of content from English to Hindi. We reviewed their resumes and prior work evaluations.
  3. We requested that the internal staff and our Hindi linguists download the specific game into their mobile devices.
  4. To understand how the game works and how the plot is set up, our quality team played through the game's many stages.
  5. Following the creation of the glossary and style guide, our PM team reviewed the content from the perspective of the end user to assess the accuracy and quality of the translation.
  6. To ensure uniformity, we used the Phrase tool while working on the project.
  7. Once the terminology and style guide was completed and authorized by the client, it was necessary to adhere to it throughout the project.
  8. To assess the quality of the translation, a standard LQA is run on the translated file.
  9. In addition, quality assurance checks were performed at the linguist’s end. We conducted internal QA checks after translation and review once more before final delivery.
  10. Each linguist has received the same instructions or guidelines, which they must abide by while working on the project. This guideline focused on the important considerations that should be made for higher quality targeting of the target audience and content.
  11. Working on this project would require a reliable tech infrastructure. The final file's quality and compliance with all instructions were verified by thorough quality assurance (QA).

We completed a challenging assignment on time and at a high standard. No negative customer comments regarding product quality have been given to us. Additionally, the client has started to negotiate with us to add greater volume and language to their normal projects for this product.

  1. The client was pleased with the prompt delivery without sacrificing quality.
  2. We consistently followed all the suggested guidelines.
  3. The client will be pleased to share such huge volume projects with us in the future.
  4. The client has begun to divide routine jobs for this product.

With improved preparation and additional backups, we are now more assured that we can complete such initiatives flawlessly in the future.
