Large translation projects need careful planning, qualified resources, and on going management to be effective. Here's how we just finished a time-intensive, high-volume translation project.

Large volume with short time delivery projects come with their own unique set of challenges.

  • We received a rush project into Tamil Roman to English language with 15k+ words to be provided within 07 days and no extensions were permitted due to the client's unique requirement because there were so many medical terms in this assignment, additional care had to be used in the translation.
  • When a project has a short deadline, time constraints are typically more difficult, placing pressure on the linguists and raising the likelihood of mistakes.
  • The amount of Emojis and Tags in the English source made this task's content rather time-consuming.  In order to preserve the quality of the translation, it was also necessary to conduct research for a few terms because the topic was a little challenging.
  • It is crucial to ensure that all procedures are carefully followed because non-compliance with the quality process can potentially be dangerous.
  • The requirement of the project was not to use multiple linguists and 1 Translator and 1 reviewer was required to work on this. Hence, would need to work on the project with quality to maintain along with tight deadline. This presented challenges not only in terms of recruiting the right linguists with a suitable profile but also ensuring that quality would be maintained with many instructions to be followed by linguists.
  • It's important to maintain translation correctness and consistency, especially when there are mistakes in the target language. This is especially critical when certain terminology or phrases must be precisely and consistently translated throughout the document.
  • Quality assurance (QA) is an important aspect of the translation process since it ensures that the translated text is free of errors and fulfils the appropriate quality standards. QA for large-volume translation projects can be time-consuming and challenging, particularly when meeting deadlines.
  • A strong technological infrastructure would be necessary to work on this project. To make sure that all guidelines are followed and consistency is upheld, QA should be carried out properly.

Before the project began, we set about making a plan. What we did was as follows:

  • Before the project started, a kick-off meeting was conducted.
  • We employed resources who were knowledgeable with the target markets and adept at translating this type of medical information into the TA Roman-EN language. We looked over the linguist's former work reviews and resume. For this assignment, we used One translator and One reviewer.
  • Since we desired to receive regular updates, we implemented a progress tracking method for improved visibility and control of the project.
  • We tracked the task’s progress every day and to manage the delivery date. Working with translator and managing several files was difficult. Our team created a well-organized plan that included information on the files, and anticipated completion dates for each file. We were able to see the work's progress more clearly with regular tracking which help us avoid any delay and act quickly to fix the issue during live task.
  • Memsource was used while working on the project to ensure consistency, and before files were sent, the online QA issues were resolved.
  • To ensure uniformity throughout the project, we only used one reviewer.
  • We gave linguists the guidelines and instructions that they must adhere to while working on the project. This guideline emphasized the need for better quality consideration of the contentand target audience.

We successfully finished a difficult project in the allotted limited time and to a high standard.

  • The client appreciated the rapid turnaround we offered without compromising quality.
  • We continuously followed all of the advice given.
  • The client will be pleased to share such large volume projects with us in the future, as they may get more large volume projects from their end customer after this project submission.

We are confident in our ability to complete such substantial projects on short notice in the future.
